It holds a String value and is part of the board report record's data. The period field belongs to the board report it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set period while working with that BoardReport record. Because period is part of the BoardReport record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the board report.
