Budget category type is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for budget category type. The allowed values are PERSONNEL, TRAVEL, EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES, TA, BENEFITS, OTHER. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps budget category type consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined budget category type states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
