Budget node status is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for budget node status. The allowed values are DRAFT, PROPOSED, ACTIVE, CLOSED, ARCHIVED. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps budget node status consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined budget node status states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
