Cycle length is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for cycle length. The allowed values are THREE_YEAR, FOUR_YEAR, FIVE_YEAR. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps cycle length consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined cycle length states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
