Equipment status is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for equipment status. The allowed values are ACTIVE, MAINTENANCE, RETIRED, DISPOSED. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps equipment status consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined equipment status states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
