Evidence category is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for evidence category. The allowed values are TEACHING_EVALUATION, PUBLICATION, GRANT_LETTER, PEER_OBSERVATION, SYLLABI, STUDENT_FEEDBACK, AWARD, SERVICE_DOCUMENTATION, PROFESSIONAL_DEVELOPMENT, OTHER_EVIDENCE. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps evidence category consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined evidence category states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
