Fiscal period type is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for fiscal period type. The allowed values are FISCAL_YEAR, QUARTER, SEMESTER, TRIMESTER, TERM, CUSTOM_PERIOD. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps fiscal period type consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined fiscal period type states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
