Funding source is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for funding source. The allowed values are STATE, TUITION, GRANT, ENDOWMENT, AUXILIARY, FUND, OTHER. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps funding source consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined funding source states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
