Gap type is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for gap type. The allowed values are LOW_ACHIEVEMENT, CURRICULUM_GAP, PEDAGOGY, ASSESSMENT_DESIGN, RESOURCE, OTHER. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps gap type consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined gap type states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
