metadata (GeneratedReport.metadata) is a field stored on each generated report record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a Json value and is part of the generated report record's data. The metadata field belongs to the generated report it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set metadata while working with that GeneratedReport record. Because metadata is part of the GeneratedReport record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the generated report.
