Measure category is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for measure category. The allowed values are DIRECT, INDIRECT. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps measure category consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined measure category states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
