metadata (ReportTemplate.metadata) is a field stored on each report template record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a Json value and is part of the report template record's data. The metadata field belongs to the report template it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set metadata while working with that ReportTemplate record. Because metadata is part of the ReportTemplate record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the report template.
