Restriction level is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for restriction level. The allowed values are HARD, SOFT, UNRESTRICTED. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps restriction level consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined restriction level states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
