Vote value is a fixed list of values that Chalk uses for vote value. The allowed values are APPROVE, DENY, ABSTAIN, REQUEST_REVISION. A record can only ever hold one of these exact values, which keeps vote value consistent across curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget records, as well as the API. When you see one of these on a record, it is one of the defined vote value states rather than free text, so reports and automations can rely on it.
