RenderLog.success is the boolean outcome of a render. It is true when the engine produced a PDF and false when the render threw — in which case the same row also carries the error message and records durationMs and sizeBytes as 0. Operators compute a failure rate by aggregating this flag per source or tenantId, making it the headline health signal for the service. Every render path, including each batch item, writes exactly one row with this flag set.
