The analyteId on an Exceedance tells compliance staff and regulators exactly which contaminant violated its limit. This is a denormalized copy from the parent AnalyticalResult, stored on the Exceedance for fast filtering — for example, to see all benzene exceedances across all wells and sites in the monitoring program. Regulators reviewing compliance submittals want to see exceedance history organized by analyte to assess whether a contamination problem is improving over time, and the analyteId on the Exceedance is the key field for that grouping.
