The limitDays on a HoldingTimeViolation is the regulatory standard being evaluated — for example, 14 days for volatile organics by EPA 8260, or 28 days for nitrate by EPA 300. Piper stores this value at the time the violation is detected so the record is self-documenting: you can read it years later and know exactly what limit applied, even if the method's holding time has since been updated. If you believe the stored limitDays is incorrect, check the analytical method reference and the methodId field.
