It is set automatically from the uploaded file's extension and MIME type. When the extractionMethod involves OCR for scanned PDFs, the fileType helps explain why the extractionConfidence may be lower than a structured spreadsheet import, which is useful context when reviewing ImportValidationIssues for the batch.
