When uploading a lab report, you assign it to a site via the siteId on the ImportBatch. This means every AnalyticalResult created when the batch is committed is automatically linked to the correct site's data history. The siteId is also used to apply the right ThresholdSetAssignments during exceedance detection — so compliance checks run against the regulatory standards that are active for that particular site rather than a generic set.
