Import Mapping Profile

An ImportMappingProfile stores the column mapping and parsing options needed to read a specific lab's CSV or spreadsheet format. Once created, it can be reused across every future import from that lab.

When you receive lab reports from a particular laboratory, the column names rarely match Piper's internal fields. An ImportMappingProfile captures the labName, the columnMapping (which source column maps to which Piper field), and any parsing options so you do not have to re-configure those settings on every import. Piper matches incoming files by headerFingerprint — a signature of the file's header row — and automatically suggests the right profile. The usageCount field tracks how often each profile has been applied, helping compliance staff identify which profiles are in active use and which may be stale.
