The approvedBy field on a ReportVersion is populated when a project manager, principal geologist, or authorized reviewer formally clears the report for submittal. This name — along with the approvedAt timestamp — becomes part of the report's permanent approval record in Piper. Some regulatory programs require that reports be approved by a licensed professional; storing approvedBy in Piper documents that approval event digitally, complementing any wet-signature or stamp on the printed document. Only one version of a report should typically have an approvedBy value — the one actually submitted.
