The casingTopDepth in WellConstruction marks the uppermost point of the solid casing string. For most monitoring wells this value is zero or slightly negative (above grade), but for nested or deep wells it may start at a meaningful depth. Knowing casingTopDepth alongside casingBottomDepth lets hydrogeologists confirm the full solid casing interval and verify that the annular seal between sealTop and sealBottom properly covers the casing above the screened zone.
