Compliance staff use WellStatus to filter which wells should be included in upcoming sampling events. An Active well is routinely sampled. An Inactive well is temporarily out of service — perhaps damaged or dry — but not permanently removed. Abandoned and Destroyed wells are no longer usable and should be excluded from sampling plans. Proposed wells are planned but not yet installed. Keeping statuses current prevents scheduling errors and ensures reports reflect only valid, operational sampling points.
