The newValue is the "after" side of a logged field edit — the content the field was set to by the action. Together with fieldName and oldValue it completes the diff, so an auditor can read the full transition without guessing: the field changed from the old value to this new value. Like its counterpart, it is optional, present only when the entry describes a specific field changing rather than a whole-record action. For sensitive workflows such as status changes or NAGPRA reclassification, capturing the resulting value alongside the prior one is what makes the trail trustworthy.
