The pipelineStages field defines the workflow that artifacts follow after excavation. It is stored as a JSON array and defaults to the sequence FIELD, WASHING, SORTING, CATALOGING, ANALYSIS, PHOTOGRAPHY, and STORAGE. Each value in this list is a valid setting for an artifact's pipelineStage, so customizing the list changes the processing path available across the whole tenant. Because it lives in the tenant config rather than being hard-coded, an organization can tailor the stages to match how their own lab actually works.
