The beef checkoff is a federally mandated assessment (the classic "$1 per head") that the barn collects on cattle sales and remits to the beef-promotion program. It's deducted per head on the consignor's settlement.
A consignor flagged as beef-checkoff exempt does not get charged this fee — Tally waives it for them automatically. Make sure a consignor's exempt flag is set correctly on their record, since this is a remittance obligation.
