balanceDue is the amount left to collect: total due minus amount paid. When it reaches zero, the invoice is paid in full. Tally keeps it current as payments are recorded — you don't edit it.
This is a read-only, calculated amount. It drops as payments come in and hits zero when the invoice is fully paid.
