Normally every animal in a lot comes from one consignor's consignment. When you combine compatible animals from different consignors into a single lot — common for small "tag" lots — the lot is a cross-consignment lot.
Cross-consignment lots need careful settlement: the sale proceeds get split back to each contributing consignor. Flagging the lot is what tells the settlement step to divide rather than pay one consignor.
