The beef checkoff is the federal per-head assessment collected on cattle sales and remitted to the checkoff program. Tally calculates it from the per-head rate on the sale's fee schedule.

If the consignor is flagged beef-checkoff exempt on their record, this fee is waived and comes through as zero on the settlement. Check the consignor's exemption flag before questioning a zero here.
