A weigh ticket captures what came across the scale. It's the basis for per-hundredweight pricing, so it has to be accurate.
Each ticket records:
gross weight, an optional tare, and the resulting net,
a head count (for group weighs),
when it was weighed and which operator took it.
Tally can weigh three kinds of subject:
Animal — a single head.
Lot — a whole lot weighed together.
Pen group — everything in a pen assignment at once.
Weights are stored in hundredths of a pound to avoid rounding drift. A scale reading of 1,247.50 lb is stored as 124750 — Tally shows you pounds, but does its math on the exact integer.
