It holds a String value and is part of the adjunct candidate record's data. The phone field belongs to the adjunct candidate it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set phone while working with that AdjunctCandidate record. Because phone is part of the AdjunctCandidate record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the adjunct candidate.
