attributes (CohortParticipant.attributes) is a field stored on each cohort participant record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a Json value and is part of the cohort participant record's data. The attributes field belongs to the cohort participant it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set attributes while working with that CohortParticipant record. Because attributes is part of the CohortParticipant record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the cohort participant.
