is active (Course.isActive) is a field stored on each course record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a Boolean value and is part of the course record's data. The isActive field belongs to the course it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set isActive while working with that Course record. Because isActive is part of the Course record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the course.
