It holds a String value and is part of the curriculum proposal record's data. The departmentId field belongs to the curriculum proposal it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set departmentId while working with that CurriculumProposal record. Because departmentId is part of the CurriculumProposal record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the curriculum proposal.
