description (Role.description) is a field stored on each role record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a String value and is part of the role record's data. The description field belongs to the role it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set description while working with that Role record. Because description is part of the Role record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the role.
