tenant id (StudentCohort.tenantId) is a field stored on each student cohort record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a String value and is part of the student cohort record's data. The tenantId field belongs to the student cohort it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set tenantId while working with that StudentCohort record. Because tenantId is part of the StudentCohort record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the student cohort.
