Template variable — default value

default value (TemplateVariable.defaultValue) is a field stored on each template variable record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a String value and is part of the template variable record's data. The defaultValue field belongs to the template variable it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set defaultValue while working with that TemplateVariable record. Because defaultValue is part of the TemplateVariable record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the template variable.
