Transition packet — department id

department id (TransitionPacket.departmentId) is a field stored on each transition packet record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a String value and is part of the transition packet record's data. The departmentId field belongs to the transition packet it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set departmentId while working with that TransitionPacket record. Because departmentId is part of the TransitionPacket record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the transition packet.
