step id (Vote.stepId) is a field stored on each vote record in Chalk, the higher-education academic operations platform for curriculum, assessment, faculty, scheduling, accreditation, and budget. It holds a String value and is part of the vote record's data. The stepId field belongs to the vote it is recorded on, so faculty, staff, and automations read or set stepId while working with that Vote record. Because stepId is part of the Vote record, it stays consistent with the rest of that record's data and is scoped to the tenant that owns the vote.
