The collectionDate on a ChainOfCustody is critical for environmental compliance: every analytical method has a maximum holding time, measured in days from collection to analysis. Piper uses collectionDate together with each result's analysis date to flag HoldingTimeViolation records when the limit is exceeded. Enter the actual field collection date, not the date the CoC was created, to ensure holding-time calculations are accurate.
