The createdBy field on a ChainOfCustody identifies which team member entered the CoC into Piper's system. This is useful for audit purposes — if the digital record differs from the paper CoC, you can trace who entered the data and when to resolve discrepancies. It is automatically populated from the logged-in user's identity at creation time. In organizations with multiple field staff entering data, createdBy helps distinguish who is responsible for each record without relying on manual notation.
