The notes field on ChainOfCustody is where the sampling team documents field conditions or logistical circumstances that could affect data interpretation — for example, "heavy rain during collection," "well MW-03 was turbid," or "one duplicate collected at MW-07 per QA plan." These notes travel with the CoC record through Piper's data system and are available when preparing regulatory reports or responding to data quality inquiries. Record field conditions here at the time of collection, not retroactively.
