Every CoCRecord must belong to exactly one ChainOfCustody, referenced by cocId. This link allows Piper to group all the individual well-level records that were shipped together in one cooler, and to inherit shipment-level information like the shippedAt date and coolerTempC from the parent. When you view a CoC document, all CoCRecords sharing that cocId appear as line items on the form, one for each well sampled during the event.
