Chain-of-Custody Record

A CoCRecord is the per-sample-location line item within a ChainOfCustody, recording which well was sampled, how it was purged and collected, and what matrix was targeted. Each CoCRecord can have multiple SampleBottle records describing the containers dispatched.

When you create a ChainOfCustody document for a site visit, you add one CoCRecord for each monitoring well sampled. The CoCRecord stores the collectionMethod (e.g., low-flow), purgeMethod used before collection, the matrix (groundwater, surface water), and the collectorName for that specific well. It also links to the samplingEvent and the well via wellId, making it possible to pull a complete sample history for any individual monitoring point. The bottles field on CoCRecord lists every SampleBottle dispatched for that well's samples.
