Before a groundwater sample is collected, the well must be purged to remove stagnant water and allow formation water to enter the casing. The PurgeLog records this entire purge event: pumpRateGpm (the pumping rate), startedAt and endedAt (the purge duration), totalVolumeGallons (total water removed), wellVolumeGallons (the well's standing water volume), and volumesPurged (the ratio of well volumes removed). stabilized records whether field parameters met stability criteria, and stabilizationNotes documents any issues. Individual field parameter readings at each purge check are stored in PurgeIntervals linked to this log.
