The weight field captures how much a find weighs, which is especially useful for bulk material recorded with a count greater than one — for example the total weight of a bag of ceramics or faunal bone. It is optional, so you can leave it blank for objects you have not weighed. Stored as a decimal, it preserves fractional precision rather than rounding to whole units. Combined with count, weight supports density and assemblage analyses across an excavation unit or layer.
