The authorId records which crew member wrote a given DailyLog, linking the entry to a User in Relic. It is a required field, so every journal entry is attributable to a real person — which matters when a log needs clarification, when accountability is required, or simply to know whose perspective the day's account reflects. Because the author is a proper user link rather than free text, the entry stays connected to that person's account even as names are displayed consistently across the project.
