The notes field on a DailyLog is the general remarks space — anything that does not belong in workSummary, notableFinds, problems, or visitors but is still worth recording. That might be a reminder for tomorrow, an observation about site conditions, a note about samples sent off, or a cross-reference to other records. It is optional, so many entries leave it blank, but it gives the author room to add color and continuity that keeps the project diary readable and complete long after the season ends.
