FeatureStatus tracks the lifecycle of a Feature from discovery through excavation. IDENTIFIED means the feature has been recognized and recorded but not yet dug. PARTIALLY_EXCAVATED means digging has begun and part of the feature has been removed, often to expose a profile. FULLY_EXCAVATED means the entire feature has been excavated and documented. SAMPLED means material — such as soil, charcoal, or flotation samples — has been collected from the feature for laboratory analysis. Tracking this status keeps field teams aware of what work remains before a feature is closed out.
