A Feature is something built or left in place that cannot be removed like an artifact, and FeatureType names its character. HEARTH is a fireplace or burning area. PIT is a dug hole used for storage, refuse, or other purposes. POSTHOLE marks where an upright post once stood. WALL and FLOOR are architectural remains of structures. MIDDEN is an accumulated refuse deposit. BURIAL is an interment of human remains and is treated with special sensitivity. STRUCTURE covers a built form not captured by the other values, and OTHER is the catch-all for features that do not fit a defined type.
